New Celtic full-back, Jeremie Frimpong has revealed understudying Manchester City’s pair of Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo during his stay with the English Premier League giants in the last couple of seasons.
The Ghanaian recently secured a move to the Scottish top-flight side after signing a four-year deal in the summer transfer window.
He marked his debut for his new club last week Wednesday in a domestic cup match against Partick Thistle. An impressive outing on the day helped Celtic to emerge as 5-0 winners as Frimpong earned the man of the match accolade.
Reflecting on his time at Manchester City whiles speaking in a post-match interview, Jeremie Frimpong shared, “When I was at Manchester City I would speak to, then when came I’d speak to him. They gave me tips.
“I’d been there since I was young and you want to try to get in the team, but they have Walker and they have just bought in Cancelo”.
He added, “I thought I was ready for the first-team now, so when Celtic came in I took the opportunity.”
The youngster has already won the hearts of the Celtic fans and will be key for manager Neil Lennon throughout the ongoing season.
