The immediate past minister for Education Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman says she will accept the post again if offered to her by the President.
According to the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, who has been accused of incompetence and mismanagement by her successor Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, her desire to see progress in the education sector of the country goes beyond her personal interest.
“If I am called again to be Education Minister, I’ll take the job,” she told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Monday.
She further stressed some measures taken on teacher-trainees while she was at the job were misconstrued.
“There were a lot of young people in the system who needed to be in the teacher training schools but they couldn’t get in there because we could admit only those that we could take care of.
“I think we needed to do the considerations so that we could get more people in the schools to train the younger ones in our schools. The teacher trainee allowances was not scrapped. We rather introduced the teachers’ loans”.
