A parliamentary aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Rita Odoley Sowah, has appealed to the delegates of the party to vote for her so she can win the seat for the biggest opposition party in next year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

Odoley Sowah said she has the skills and abilities to win more votes for the NDC, so, should be voted for in the Saturday, 24 August 2019 primaries.

The NDC has already issued some guidelines for the conduct of the elections.

Speaking on the Ghana Yensom show on Accra100.5FM hosted by Kwabena Prah Jnr (The Don), on Wednesday, 21 August 2019, Ms Odoley Sowah said: “I want to appeal to the delegates of our party to vote for me because I have what it takes to win more votes for the party, both at the presidential and parliamentary levels.”

“I will ensure that we work to bring the party back to power,” she added.

Meanwhile, the party has, in the interim, stopped electoral processes for the election of its parliamentary candidates in some constituencies across the country.

The affected constituencies include Chereponi in the North Eastern Region; Kpandai and Bimbilla in the Northern Region; and Hohoe in the Volta Region.

In the Western Region, there shall be no elections in Evalue Gwira, Takoradi, Amenfi East, Tarkwa Nsuem, Kwesimintim and Esikado Ketan.

A statement issued by the party on Tuesday, 20 August 2019 said: “In accordance with the National Executive Committee’s decision to progressively conduct the parliamentary primaries, the following directives have been issued for compliance.

“The electoral processes in all constituencies across the country shall proceed as earlier announced unless otherwise stated herein.

“All constituencies in North Eastern Region shall proceed with the process with the exception of Chereponi. All constituencies in the Northern Region shall proceed with the process with the exception of Kpandai and Bimbila.”

It added: “All constituencies in Western Region shall proceed with the process with the exception of Evalue Gwira, Takoradi, Amenfi East, Tarkwa Nsuem, Kwesimintim and Esikado Ketan.

“All constituencies in Central Region shall proceed with the process with the exception of Efutu, Awutu Senya East, Upper Denkyira West and Ejumako Enyan Essiam.

“All constituencies in Volta Region shall proceed with the process with the exception of Hohoe.

“In the Eastern Region, the process shall proceed in Asuogyaman, Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya, Lower Manya, Ayensuano, Suhum, Fanteakwa North, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Upper West Akim, Afram Plains North, Afram Plains South, Netw Abirem and Abuakwa North.”
