Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs says he will join forces to resist any attempts by the Akufo-Addo government to relocate the Coastal Development Authority situated in the Central Region.

According to him, it appears everything is centralized in Accra, the capital city of Ghana and so he wouldn't allow the government to take the one significant thing that belongs to the Central Region.

He told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' that he has got hints of the move by government, but should they advance their plans, he won't hesitate to incite the masses in the Region against the government.

He stressed that he will incite the people with every ounce of energy in him "and we will march to the streets".

"We will not accept the removal of the Coastal Authority from Cape Coast to Accra. We will not. I will incite the people of Central Region and we will march to the streets. And I hope President Nana Akufo-Addo will not allow this," he warned.

President Akufo-Addo created the Coastal Development Authority, together with the Middle Belt and Northern Development Authorities, and tasked them to implement the Infrastructure for the Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).

The development authorities were passed into law in November 2017.

The aim of the Authority is to champion the welfare the fisher folks in the country.
