The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Public Sector Reforms Mr. Kusi Boafo has threatened his lead a crusade against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s second term bid if he fails to prosecute and jail corrupt appointees under the erstwhile Mahama administration.

He reminded the President of his promise to protect the public purse and to haul persons perceived to have embezzled state funds under the previous administration before the courts to answer for their stewardship, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

The former Economics lecturer with the Kumasi Technical University Abusua Fm Tuesday during a studio discussion on how the sector is planning to improve the public service of the country observed that it is his wish to see people pay for their sins.

Corruption fight has become very challenging to most Ghanaian leaders as none has shown a keen interest in the menace in the wake of calls for the passage of the Right to Information Bill (RTI).

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the political campaign in 2016 made corruption fight a key message and succeeded in making Ghanaians think they were coming to literally eliminate corruption from the system.

Since the NPP took power in 2017, most Ghanaians have criticized the government for showing less interest in the fight against corruption though it has established the Office of the Special Prosecutor headed by Mr. Martin Amidu, who is a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

However, Mr. Kusi Boafo in his discussion categorically stated that, he will campaign massively against his boss (Nana Addo) should he fail to prosecute corrupt people in his government.

“How on earth should somebody construct a road and just after six months it begins to deteriorate. Meanwhile, that same person will walk around freely boasting about it while we watch”. He quizzed.

“This is why I have asked Ghanaians to be vigilant” Mr. Boafo stressed.

“I Kusi Boafo as part of the Government, I’m not corrupt that is why I have said, If Nana Addo is not able to punish wrongdoers I will campaign against him. I have said it”, he stressed.

Mr. Boafo pleaded with citizens to back government’s step to reform the public sector in a bid to check wrongdoers so that the public purse will be protected.
