I’ll pick new forms on Monday – Mahama's challenger

The flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress, George Boateng has told tv3network.com that he would be picking the original presidential form on Monday, September 7, to contest President John Mahama for the party leadership.

Mr. Boateng was the first to pick the presidential form but was told the form he picked from the party headquarters was just a draft and not the original.

In his initial comments after he was told that his forms were ‘fake’, the 45 year old freight forwarder said “they are lying. They just don’t want me to contest the president, the forms I have are original and I have started filling it.”

In his usual sarcastic manner, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said “well if he says he has the original forms, he should fill it and bring it. It will not be with him forever, he will definitely submit it and we will see what happens.”

Johnson Asiedu Nketia also know as General Mosquito said these when Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur went to the party office to pick the presidential forms for president Mahama.

According to Asiedu Nketia, “it is only the General Secretary or his assigns who can sell the presidential forms because it has to be appended and stamped.”

“My attention was drawn to the fact that someone has picked up presidential forms when the arm which would have to append the form was with me elsewhere and the stamp too was locked up in my office… so how can he have an original form?” He questioned.

He further added that “what he has is a draft of the original because the original comes with the party logo and other features so it cannot be duplicated or photocopied.”

Mr. Boateng said “if Mr. Asiedu Nketia says the forms are not correct, I want him to know that on Monday, I will come to the headquarters and pick the forms so he should meet me there.”

Meanwhile officers at the NDC headquarters including the accountant who sold the 'fake' form to Mr. Boateng have been sacked for what Mr. Asiedu Nketia describes as ‘usurping the powers of the General Secretary to themselves’.

The National Democratic Congress has set November 7 to elect its presidential and parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2016 elections.
