President John Dramani Mahama has promised to “clinch another one-touch victory” for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections.
Addressing thousands of supporters at the party’s headquarters on Monday, September 7, President Mahama said his “impressive” record in office will deliver victory for the party in 2016.
He addressed the supporters after filing his nomination forms.
The president’s forms had been picked on his behalf by his vice, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, last Thursday and with three days for nominations to close, he went to the office to file in time.
“I seek your mandate to lead your party in the 2016 elections…to clinch another one-touch victory in December 2016,” he told the teeming fans at Adabraka, Accra.
President Mahama talked up the achievements of the ruling party in the past four years, stressing that not even the election petition of "nine months" could disrupt the development agenda of his government.
“Our record in office is impressive and all of us can be proud of it.”
President Mahama shed light on the unity within his party, urging members to keep together even after the November 7 primaries “to record another spectacular victory in 2016”.
“I look forward to four more years in the Flagstaff House”.
So far, only one member of the party – George Boateng – has picked forms, which have been rubbished by leadership of the party, to contest the president.
