The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said he is heartbroken following the sudden death of his press aide Kwabena Boadu in the line of duty.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in a brief tribute described the 29-year-old as a brother, colleague and a confidant.
“I am devastated,” Bawumia wrote on his Facebook wall.
Boadu was an effective backroom personality and kept a strong media link for Bawumia’s campaign team. He was the fulcrum behind the buzzing social media presence for the economist ever since he joined his campaign in 2012.
According to Bawumia, Boadu’s death is beyond comprehension, describing the day he died as “one of the saddest days of my life”.
Boadu, a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon, was found lifeless in his hotel room in Wa on Thursday. The police is investigating circumstances surrounding his death. His remains have since been brought to Accra upon his family’s request.
“Kwabena was simply brilliant, diligent, loyal, and honest,” Dr. Bawumia said of his lieutenant. “I was most fortunate to have met him. He was matured beyond his years and was a trusted confidant. I am devastated. It is just unbelievable. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Burial arrangement is yet to be made public.
