Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has hit hard at media reports that he fainted right after the announcement of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor on Thursday.
His family was inundated with calls from his teeming supporters from all over the country on hearing the news, according to a statement issued by his spokesperson. The statement on Friday cited TV3 as starting the “false” reports and so demanded an unqualified apology from the leading news television station.
“It is in TV3’s own interest to do the right thing professionally.”
On the appointment of Mr Amidu as Ghana’s first independent prosecutor, the statement said Mr Woyome, who is standing trial for receiving a judgement debt in 2012, understands and appreciates the rule of law.
He respects the 1992 Constitution and is “not bothered about Martin Alamisi Amidu becoming Special Prosecutor,” the statement said.
“God rules in the affairs of men,” concluded the statement signed by Reginald Seth Dogbey.
