A member of New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communication team, Hopeson Adorye still insists that the Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs was momentarily arrested and questioned over a case of money laundering while boarding a flight to the UK.

According to him – he is prepared to meet the NDC bigwig in court after his threat to sue him when he returns from the US.

Adorye’s courage comes after Member of Parliament for La-Dadekotopon, Nii Amasa Namoale confirmed that indeed Allotey Jacobs was held up by security officials at the Heathrow Airport briefly, during his trip abroad.

Namoale, who met Allotey Jacobs in the USA during his visit, said on Accra-based Kasapa FM that though Allotey Jacobs was called in for questioning, that action didn’t amount to an arrest.

“In abroad there are thousands of people disembarking at the airports, a single plane carries about five hundred passengers at a time and every five minutes an aeroplane lands, if these whites want to search passengers individually, then it will take them a whole day to search people from one aeroplane. So they handpick and search some of the passengers, and that is not based on prior information, but it’s done at random,” he explained.

However, speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed 'Ghana Montie', Hopeson Adorye noted the confirmation from the lawmaker is enough to battle Allotey Jacobs in court with other evidence in his possession from credible sources.

According to him, the brouhaha between the two has deepened his faith in Christ – “I can’t tarnish someone’s image when I don’t have credible evidence, and again Ghanaians will see who is giving factual information about the case. My faith in Christ has deepened now.”
