Tetteh's goal sent the game to penalties
Sixteen years after scoring ‘that Mallam goal’, former Hearts midfielder Adjah Tetteh says he is reaping the benefits of that goal.
The game looked like a done deal for Kotoko who were up by a goal until Adjah Tetteh scored a late goal from the edge of penalty box to draw parity.
With an aggregate of 2-2 the game had to be decided on penalties.
Heart nicked it with 8-7 shootout victory to win what has turned out to be their last continental trophy.
Tetteh was immediately elevated to legendary status as fans kept mentioning him as the man who made ‘fufu’ go waste in Kumasi on that particular Sunday.
Tetteh told Eastern Region-based Tru FM that fans still praise him for that goal.
He revealed monetary gifts and gifts of other forms from the Phobian family have been part of his life since scoring that historic goal.
He attributed the victory that handed Hearts the ‘Virgin Cup’ to an act of divinity.
“God helped us to win that cup. I always say, we are not different or unique. It was a favour of God that helped us to win the trophy. I’m still benefitting from that goal.”
