I’m still strong, says Akufo-Addo

A flag-bearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says contrary to the propaganda that he is too old and weak at age 70 to run for president again, he is “still strong, fit and ready ” for the task in 2016 and beyond.

He has therefore urged supporters of the of Ghana’s biggest opposition party to debunked such propaganda and give him the mandate to lead the party once again and bring hope to Ghanaians.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this during his recent visit to Koforidua to appeal to the delegates of the NPP to make him the presidential candidate of the party for the 2016 general elections.

“I am profoundly grateful that so many people consider me worthy to lead this promising nation of ours, even at the young age of 70,” the former foreign affairs minister said, adding: “I do not know what 70-year olds are supposed to feel like but I feel well my body is in good shape; my mind remains as sharp as it ever was.”

He assured the gathering that contrary to the propaganda out there, he is emotionally, intellectually, psychologically, physically, patriotically and spiritually strong enough to lead the NPP party and Ghana.

Addressing a massive crowd at the Koforidua Ascension Presbyterian Church Hall, Nana Akufo-Addo thanked the supporters for the honour done him and said it was a mark of progress for the NPP in the area after the 2012 general elections.

He said the NPP needed to return to power come the 2016 general elections hence the need for delegates to endorse his candidature at this year’s national delegate’s congress as the party’s winnable candidate.

Nana Akufo-Addo slammed the President John Dramani led NDC administration over what he described as its management of Ghana’s economy and promised that the situation would improve under his Presidency.

Akufo-Addo is contesting six other aspirants for the slot. The party goes to congress on October 18, 2014 to choose one of them as presidential candidate for the 2016 general elections.
