The woman (R) says her son was not involved in Austin's (L) murder
The mother of one of the accused persons arrested in connection with the lynching and murder of a Liberian national, Austin Tengbeh, has spoken publicly, insisting on her son’s innocence while calling for justice to prevail.
Her son, identified as William Addison, is among persons being investigated over the tragic incident which led to the death of the foreign national.

Speaking in an emotional account in a video sighted by GhanaWeb, the woman explained how her son allegedly got caught up in the situation, maintaining that he had no involvement in the assault that led to Austin Tengbeh’s death.
“I woke my son William up from sleep to go and buy me something. So, I think as he was going, they were chasing the guy, but he didn't see the person they were chasing. When he was returning, he saw them standing with a crowd, so, he went to check it out,” she said.
She further narrated that her son only approached the scene out of curiosity and later tried to assist the victim.
“He touched Austin when he was getting up and he couldn't. There was an Uber car going to the apartment to pick someone and he was helping Austin to get out from the way. That is how my son touched him,” she added.
The distraught mother, who described herself as an evangelist, stressed that she does not condone wrongdoing and would not shield her son if he were guilty.
“I'm an evangelist. I wouldn't support somebody's death. If my son was wrong, I will make sure the courts deal with it the way it should… I won't support any evil of my son. If he kills somebody, he must be dealt with,” she stated.
She, however, expressed firm belief that her son did not participate in the mob action that resulted in the death of Austin Tengbeh.
“But this one, I know the God I serve, he did not. He will not beat Austin for anything. I’m a mother and I felt it. I'm even feeling it because this is the only son I have. He could be the one they would have killed. The truth will come out!” she stressed.
According to her, she feels partly responsible for the situation, as she was the one who sent her son out that night.
“I sent him and he didn't even want to wake up, but I woke him up. So, let's say I put him in trouble because he wouldn't go there,” she lamented.
She concluded by expressing faith in divine justice, saying, “As for my son William, I don't know but God is the vindicator.”
