I pay £600 monthly rent despite being jobless - Popular UK-based Ghanaian musician shares his frustration

We often hear stories of survival from Ghanaian immigrants living abroad. While some are thriving, others are still struggling to make ends meet even after many years in their host countries.

Ghanaian musician Harrison Raphael Bukari, also known as Phresh Adam, is one of those immigrants who has shared his survival story from the UK.

Phresh Adam rose to fame in the early 2000s with his hit song 'Fame Keke.' After unsuccessful attempts to revive his career in Ghana, he moved to the UK in 2019.

In an interview with blogger ZionFelix, monitored by GhanaWeb, Phresh Adam revealed that life in the UK has been tough, but still better than his life in Ghana.

Despite the challenges, he is able to support his family in Ghana through his cleaning job in the UK.

"It was difficult adjusting to life in the UK, especially since I arrived during the winter. I had to wake up early to catch 6 buses daily for work. Being a cleaner is what helps me survive here, pay my bills, taxes, and support my family back in Ghana," he shared.

After losing his cleaning job due to relocation, Phresh Adam's biggest frustration now is paying his £600 monthly rent from his savings.

"I came to the UK as a musician, so I didn't face the same struggles as others. I've been here for almost 5 years, trying to revive my music career. I worked as a cleaner for 2 years, but now I'm jobless due to relocation. I can manage because of the savings I had from my job," he explained.

Despite the challenges, Phresh Adam feels blessed to have supportive friends who help him with groceries and other needs.

He is currently focused on finding a new job to ease his financial burden.
