General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia should be much concern about his stakes in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) rather than taking unnecessary swipes at the NDC.

According to the NDC chief scribe, the NPP sees Dr. Bawumia as nothing beyond a running mate, stressing that “I pity him (Dr. Bawumia) because you will hear from your Presidential candidate saying that he didn’t want to choose a running mate from the frontliners so that was why he settled on you.”

Mr. Asiedu Nketia said this on an Accra based radio station on Monday.

Dr. Bawumia has strongly been criticizing the NDC for what he described as its abysmal performance since assuming office in 2009.

“If there is a party that does not respect you enough to think that you can be the number one and then you are still following that party only to be dumped after the next selection of a Presidential candidate, that is your own business. So he will help himself if he stops these lamentations,” he added.

In what could be termed as a free political consultation, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said, “Dr. Bawumia will do himself a lot of good if he concentrates on what he thinks will be the alternative to NDC’s mode of development in the North. It is on record that when Courage Quarshigah visited Pwalugu, he wept and it became a national issue. He said he was weeping about the neglect of the place.

“He went to Bolga meat factory and repeated the weeping and created the impression that heavens have descended onto the North and that the North was going to be turned into some miracle zone. What happened? So he should go and check from the records of his own party’s performance”.
