Accra, June 22, GNA - Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, a flag bearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Tuesday declared: "I stand out among the lot as the most affable, politically mature, with an unblemished reputation both in private and public life".

"I am the only candidate capable of eliminating intra and inter party antagonism, a disposition essential to attract floating voters and win Election 2012".

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, former Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, made the declaration in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra.

He said: "I stand for prompt, vigorous action and challenge the delegates to cast their votes for Prof. Frimpong-Boateng as the flag bearer of NPP for Election 2012. This is the time to elect a winnable candidate for the party.

"Prof. Frimpng-Boateng would inspire a new vision and enthusiasm in the Ghanaian. Dr Kwame Nkrumah's dynamism contributed to the political emancipation of the African continent. Dr J.B. Danquah's unflinching belief in democracy and the rule of law laid the foundation for a political system, which had survived decades in the opposition," he added. Prof. Frimpong-Boateng condemned the protracted intra party antagonism, bickering especially among leading members of the party including some aspiring flag bearers "these tendencies have the potential of derailing the party's quest to regain power".

As a cardiothoracic surgeon, he said, his track record of personal accomplishment had prepared him on the principles of governance. Prof. Frimpong-Boateng challenged NPP executives, delegates, foot soldiers and supporters to maintain high level of decorum as they were bombarded daily with messages from the five aspirants in an attempt to woo their votes.

"I share the difficulties you are going through now, but I pray that you maintain your composure, not to sacrifice the permanent on the altar of the immediate, you must consider the future of the nation, who among the lot has the capacity and capabilities to rule the country to bring accelerated human centered development," he said.

Prof. Frimpong-Boateng reiterated his objective for political power; "I am into politics to fix it all, I have done it before and I have the capacity to mend the nation. There is, therefore, no denying the fact that the quality of leadership that I would offer would directly influence the success of Ghana".

He said an important function of leadership was to inspire those being led to greater achievements in order to gain competitive advantage over other countries in the globalised market. Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said quality of life of the society depended on quality of the leaders, adding "as a person cannot function without a brain, so also a society cannot function without leaders". He therefore called on the delegates participating in the August 7, NPP elections to consider "number one on the ballot paper, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng and vote for him as the surest ticket for the NPP regaining power".
