I support cleaning of Ghana Football – Ken Agyapong
Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyopong has said Ghana’s football fraternity is unattractive and must be restructured.
Mr Agyapong who has described investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas as “corrupt, evil, blackmailer, and wicked” over the way and manner he does his undercover work, said he had raised several issues with some football administrators on the state of Ghana football In order to help address those defects.
Responding to news about the dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Friday June 8, Mr Agyapong said: “I don’t have a problem with that. I have my own issues with the state of football in Ghana, it is not the best and unattractive and I have said that to people.”
Mr Agyapong launched a scathing attack on Anas’s modus operandi in his journalism practice
According to Mr Agyapong, Anas does not practice investigative journalism but sets people up to destroy their hard-won reputation.
He noted that if Anas were to have been using the same entrapment tactics in some other part of the world, he would have been killed by now.
Meanwhile, the investigative documentary by Anas on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dubbed ‘Number 12’ has exposed gross graft within the GFA characterised by widespread fraud, corruption and bribery.
Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, GFA president was implicated in the said video. He is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for collecting bribe and also using the names of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to solicit bribes.
In the undercover piece, he said: “We will take over the whole country”, once the so-called investors brought millions of dollars to bribe the president, vice-president and some officials at the presidency.
Government has dissolved the GFA as a result of the rot unearthed by the documentary.
