Outgoing Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho has said he did his best to serve the legislature in that capacity.

Officially dissolving the sixth parliament of the fourth republic on Friday, 6 January, Mr Adjaho said: “I wish to say that while not by any means laying claim to perfection, I’ve discharged my duties as speaker to the best of my ability and the choices and decisions I made were neither dictated by malice, ill will nor self-interest but rather well intended and made in utmost good faith.”

“As to my performance as a speaker, I believe I should leave it to posterity to judge. I’m, however, sure of one thing: that I’ve done my best to build on and add value to the work, porgrammes and projects I inherited,” Mr Adjaho told the house which stands dissolved by mid-night.

The seventh parliament with a new leadership is expected to be sworn in by mid-night ahead of the swearing in of president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo who beat President John Mahama and five others in last year’s elections.

Apart from Mr Adjaho, Majority and Minority leaders, Alban Bagbin and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, respectively delivered closing remarks as the sixth parliament ends its tenure.
