Deputy Minister for Information, Curtis Perry Kwabla Okudzeto has denied calling media UTV to henceforth stop granting audience to Ernest Owusu Bempah.
According to him, some faceless persons believed to be members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are claiming he called UTV to direct that Owusu Bempah who is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ghana Gas should not be allowed on their political programmes any longer.
A message circulating on social media stated:” Following the humiliation suffered by Ernest Owusu Bempah in the hands of Sammy Gyamfi last night on UTV, deputy minister for information Mr. Perry Okudjeto has called UTV this morning not to host Owusu Bempah anymore in the name of the NPP government.
According to our sources at UTV Perry was very upset about last night’s development and said “Owusu Bempah is not a member of the NPP, he got his appointment because of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’s closeness to the President”, after that he dropped the call”
But the Deputy Minister in response said:”It has come to my notice that some unscrupulous elements in the opposition have either manufactured an interview or have very fertile imagination.
On this issue of a programme on UTV that featured Ernest Owusu Bempah and an opposition activist, I did not watch the said programme until my attention was drawn to it a while ago, and could therefore not have placed a call to the media house for whatever purpose.
The media house can confirm this. I have received several calls and WhatsApp messages on the matter. I hope this settles it”
