The Akim Oda Magistrate Court in the Birim Central Municipality, on Monday sentenced Kwadwo Frimpong, a labourer, to 36 months imprisonment in hard labour for unlawful entry and causing harm.
Frimpong pleaded guilty with explanation to three counts of unlawful entry, causing harm and possessing instrument intended for unlawful entry.
His explanation was that he was drunk and did not know how he managed to enter the house.
Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah, told the court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor that the complainant, Master Emmanuel Ntsiful, is a student at Mankessim in the Mfantseman District, while the convict, Frimpong is a labourer at Asene Camp in the Birim Central Municipality.
He said on April 19, at about 18:00 hours, Master Ntsiful arrived from Mankessim to assist in a programme at Bama Prayer Camp at Akim Oda. Unfortunately, Madam Jane Awotwe, the leader of the camp was indisposed and therefore the meeting was suspended.
Inspector Appiah said after dispersing from the camp at about 01:00 hours, Master Ntsiful went home and saw Frimpong standing in the house with a pinch bar in his hand, so he hid himself and watched Frimpong entering Madam Awotwe’s hall.
He said Master Ntsiful rushed on Frimpong whiles shouting “thief, thief” and Frimpong fiercely resisted and in the ensuing struggle, Master Ntsiful’s finger slipped into Frimpong’s mouth who did not waste time chewing it.
Inspector Appiah stressed that, the struggle attracted the attention of Madam Awotwe and another person who woke up from their sleep to join Master Ntsiful to overpower Frimpong, who was later handed over to the police.**
