New Patriotic Party Presidential candidate aspirant, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has expressed surprise at the number of people who graced his campaign launch last Saturday at Abeka Lapaz in Accra.

To him, the campaign launch meant to set the second phase of the flagbearership contest rolling was planned as a small event and not the mini rally he witnessed over the weekend.

“..I was not expecting such a crowd. We just decided to kick off the campaign for the second round of the contest on a low key so I was very surprised at the numbers that came out to grace the occasion,” he said on Peace FM.

Alan Kyerematen was full of thanks to his teaming supporters and the hard working members of his team for putting up such an event, giving the fact that no one was bussed to the campaign launch.

He made these comments on Neat 100.9 after the unveiling of his campaign to lead the NPP into elections in 2016.

There has been intense pressure on Mr. Kyerematen to withdraw from the race and allow Nana Akufo-Addo to be acclaimed on October 18.

Some pundits even described his decision not to step down as intransigence, especially when the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Ghartey and Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Osei Ameyaw, who both secured enough votes to qualify for the next stage of the NPP's flagbearer election process withdrew from the contest.

For this position, many political pundits believed the delegates of NPP would punish Alan Kyerematen by boycotting his launch but to him, the crowd is a pointer to the fact that a miracle is about taking place.
