Football Administrator and owner of King Solomon FC at Nkawkaw, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed has slammed some media houses for reporting that, he [Nasiru] was trafficking some ladies outside the country.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Alhaji Nasiru who was on his way to Nigeria when the unfortunate incident occurred, wondered why a thorough investigation was not conducted before the story was published.
According to him, he was detained for two nights before he and the others were brought to the Immigration Headquarters where he met some journalists and before he could say jack, the false story was everywhere that a human trafficker has been arrested.
Some media houses had reported that the Immigration Officers at the Honuta Border Post in the Ho West District of the Volta Region have foiled a human trafficking attempt at Kpedze.
According the media report, about 10 ladies were rounded up by the Immigration officers including the football administrator.
The football administrator said his explanation was not taken and the ladies who were on the journey with him also denied knowledge of him, yet he was manhandled, humiliated and ridiculed for apparent reason.
The use of the border posts, particularly the Togo border, has emerged as a new strategy by human trafficking syndicates to transport their victims to Arabian countries.
This is because the Immigration Officials at the Kotoka International Airport are preventing ladies with Arabian passports from using the place and due to recent reports of abuse of Ghanaian residents because of that, they have developed a new strategy in travelling by using the border.
He said, as a football administrator who recruits talents for clubs, he was embarking on a journey to attend to a meeting where he was going to hold similar meetings.
When asked if he will pursue the matter he said, he is currently discussing it with his lawyer but will for now incur the wrath of God on those who fabricated the story against him including the media houses that published the false story.
‘’It was embarrassing and disgraceful. How can a football administrator traffic people out of Ghana. The Immigration claimed that they had information that the women on board the commercial bus, held Arabian visas and so they have come to apprehend them. I had no Arabian visa, I denied knowing the ladies and they also did same but they arrested and detained me for two days and subsequently transferred me to the headquarters and before I could say jack, the media had come to capture me as a human trafficker. I wondered why they failed to investigate the matter before publishing the story. It was unprofessional and I will only give those who did this to me to God,’’ he said.
