Accra, Jun 06, GNA - An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the La Dadekotopon, Dr N A Sowah, has promised to unite the people and help solve what he called, "The crisis of confidence" that had engulfed the traditional set up when he was given the nod to contest the 2008 elections.

Speaking at a meeting with delegates of the Adobetor Electoral area of the party at La, he said, "The endless battles and entrenched positions" that had even permeated the various clans (Akatsei) was a dangerous development since it retarded development.

"It is time together as one people we united to address our differences and shore-up the things that unite us," he said. Dr Sowah, who is a Lawyer, said the people of La should unite and poll their efforts to promote education through the establishment of a scholarship scheme, libraries, computer laboratories and other facilities for the benefit of school children and students in the area. He described education as the "back-bone for survival" and said if he was given the nod to recapture the seat from the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC), he would make the sector his focus for development.

The aspiring candidate also promised to tackle the health sector and help to ensure the observance of good sanitation and environmental hygiene throughout the community to solve the problem of both liquid and solid waste disposal in the area, which posed a health risk for the people.

Dr Sowah said he would engage the services of consultants to prepare an employment creation plan for the constituency, which would be his master plan to get jobs for the large number of unemployed youth. He also promised to promote vocational and skill training for the youth to enable them to set up income generating ventures to alleviate poverty in the constituency.
