I won’t be part of your agenda – Suhuyini replies EC official

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini has vowed to restrain himself from what he described as the alleged drama put up by an EC official at Tamale accusing him of threatening her life.

Suhuyini said he was confused about what the agenda of the EC official stationed at Sakasaka might be, hence, he won’t be drawn into further issues with her following the shocking allegations made against him.

Jocelyn Techi has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini of threatening her life.

According to her, Suhuyini who’s also a presenter at Accra-based Radio Gold warned her to desist from acting as though she’s a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) else she’ll be treated as such and dealt with ruthlessly.

The alleged threat on the life of the EC official follows her interview with Kasapa FM’s Northern Regional Correspondent Eliasu Tanko on Friday, during which she disclosed that the ruling NDC party is attempting to register minors in the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise in the area.

But Suhuyini reacting to the issues on his Alhaji and Alhaji programme Saturday said in order not to be trapped by the real motives of the EC official; he’s advised himself to stay off clear the issues cooked up by the EC official.

Suhuyini’s reaction on Radio Gold

“There is currently a story that is trending. Since yesterday, I’ve refused to comment but because we’ve made reference to the media and how the spins are put out, I think I’ll just take this opportunity to respond to it. It has to do with an allegation that I threatened an EC official in one of the registration centres in the Tamale constituency-the Sakasaka centre.

And this is what happened; I got to Accra listened to radio, I was in the car and I tuned in to radio and I heard the report that an EC official at the Sakasaka registration centre complained that people were registering minors and when she tried to challenged they tried to beat her up. And that falls within my constituency and I heard her talking she was speaking about how minors are registered and when she tries to intervene you know…

And I was familiar with her because on the first day my agents told me that instead of the NPP agents challenging, she was actually the one asking the NPP agents to challenge. So on my tour, when I got to that centre, I particularly sat with her to have a chat with her to find out if the people were worrying her and she said everything was calm. So when I heard talking on radio I called my agents and I said let me talk to the lady; they gave the phone to her and I ask what is the problem again, I just heard you on radio?

First she denied speaking on radio and I said Ooh I just heard you and I thought there was a problem. she said there was no problem and that some guys came here and she spoke to them. And I said, then they have put it on radio- maybe you should be careful who you talk to on some of these things.

Then the next moment she called the station or the reporter again to tell the reporter I had called to threaten her and the reporter also filed the story quickly that I’d called to threaten an EC official. And I said I’m not going to comment on this-I don’t want to be part of that. Whatever her agenda is let it be, I’m not going to be part and it’s been trending and some of the stations called me, but I said I don’t want to be part of it because clearly I don’t know what she’s up to and I don’t want to be part of it anymore.”
