Inspired Alswel Foundation (IAF), a non-governmental and humanitarian-based organization, has held successfully the maiden edition of the IAF Volunteers and Ambassadors Training over the weekend. The event, which took place at the British Council, Accra, was under the theme “Unleash the Power”.

The training programme was geared towards preparations for the IAF Young Advocates Training Programme (YATP-24), which is aimed at enlightening the youth on volunteerism, communication, branding, and how to leverage the dominance of artificial intelligence to maximise the Foundation’s brand presence.

It also sought to encourage the teeming youth of the country to unleash the power within them, identify their potential, and impact society more positively.

In an interview with the Daily Statesman after the programme, the Chief Executive Officer of IAF, Alswel Annan, extended sincere appreciation to distinguished leaders for their invaluable contributions to youth empowerment.

He acknowledged Mr. Joseph Cudjoe, Minister of Public Enterprises and MP for Efia constituency, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, a seasoned communication expert and Head of Communications at KNUST, Ohyeawora Nyonwa Bian Payin IV, chief of the Dompem Pepesa and esteemed board member of Ghana Manganese Company, and others for sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience across diverse fields.

He emphasised their pivotal roles in fostering leadership, promoting cultural heritage, and instilling a sense of responsibility among the younger generation.

Addressing the youth, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe highlighted the pervasive influence of public speaking across all facets of life.

He underscored that public speaking transcends geographical and professional boundaries, permeating every sphere of human interaction. “Public speaking happens everywhere,” he noted, stressing its pivotal role in both personal and professional realms.

He emphasised that mastering public speaking empowers individuals to articulate ideas, influence opinions, and catalyze positive change. “Whether in boardrooms, classrooms or community gatherings, the ability to communicate effectively is indispensable,” he indicated.

He stressed that institutions such as KNUST were committed to nurturing effective communicators through structured programmes and practical training.

He expressed optimism about the transformative potential of enhanced communication skills in fostering innovation and progress.

Joseph Cudjoe stressed the importance of the IAF Volunteers and Ambassadors Training Programme to empower Ghana's youth and equip them with essential skills for personal and professional growth.

He emphasised the programme’s relevance in shaping the future of young individuals across the nation. “The IAF Volunteers and Ambassadors Training Programme is crucial because it directly impacts our youth,” he indicated.

He urged the youth to embrace a proactive approach to learning. “It is imperative for our young people to learn how to learn,” he noted, stressing the importance of continuous personal development in an ever-evolving global landscape.

The Minister also outlined strategies for harnessing personal power, and unlocking untapped potentials. “Understanding how to wield one’s strengths effectively is key to unleashing personal power,” he indicated.

He encouraged the youth to cultivate skills that enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.

Ohyeawora Nyonwa Bian Payin IV shared profound reflections on his journey, and imparted invaluable advice to the youth.

He recounted a poignant moment when a 72-year-old chief inquired about his involvement in crafting speeches for Otumfuo’s 15th-anniversary celebrations.

He shared his experience of ascending to the chieftaincy throne, emphasising the responsibilities and opportunities that come with leadership roles.

He called on the youth to embrace their cultural heritage, and urged them to take active roles in preserving and promoting Ghanaian traditions.

“Our culture and tradition are our identity and must be upheld by the younger generation. This is pivotal role in driving societal transformation,” the chief noted.

Addressing the pitfalls of youthful exuberance, the chief cautioned against complacency while emphasising the importance of building a solid personal brand. “To unleash your potential, cultivate a strong personal brand and seek mentorship,” he told the youth gathered.
