?Fellow Comrades we salute you for the good work you have done in assembling the delegates for the 2007 CPP national congress. This success has been achieved through hard work and unity. There is an old maxim? If you are not united even your weakest enemy will defeat you. If we are united we can move mountains. However, as our strength lies in unity, a unified purpose, policy and action for progress and the development of Ghana, so lay the strength of the un-progressive forces in our disunity. Unless we find a solution to this obvious and very powerful threat i.e. dis-unity with a united front and a proper policy for the development of our country, the strategy of the un-progressive forces will be to pick us and destroy us one by one?. The political discontent, the tribal wars, the military coups, the corruption, the poverty, the sickness in Ghana and in Africa, all point to this.
Against the above background, I am privileged on behalf of my colleagues to extend our greetings to the National Executive Committee members, and the rank and files of the Convention People?s Party for making it possible for the national congress to be held. No matter how long it has taken CPP executives to accumulate strength to make such a historical event possible, it is a sign that Kwame Nkrumah?s dream for the total emancipation of Africa is not forgotten. It is our hope that the new executives as well as the new Presidential Candidate who will be elected to lead the party back to victory in the 2008 elections will be patriotic and selfless.
We are aware of the executive?s determination to re-build the party. We also know the challenges that the executives are faced with in re-organizing the party after its defeat at the pools in 2000 and 2004. However, we are ready to support the executives. The whole world is aware of Nkrumah?s political vision. And that is: ?The liberation of Ghana from the colonial rule?. The on finished work is the total uprooting of neo-colonialism? thoughts? from Ghanaian leaders so that we can match forward for the total emancipation of our country. The world has not forgotten that his vision for his struggle makes a vast difference in any ideology between the other political parties in Ghana and in the whole of Africa .
It is our hope that in selecting a new flag bearer, our delegates will take note of that. They should select a candidate with a vision to lead the CPP tradition. They should consider electing a leader without blemish, a leader with charisma, a leader who hates corruption, a leader with compassion for his country to lead the party to victory in 2008. A word to the wise is enough.
We the members of International Convention People?s Party Forum, hope that our delegates this time will put aside prejudice, and vote for a candidate who possesses the above mentioned qualities which are necessary to defeat the opponents. We are not in to antagonise anybody . We are in for freedom and equality for the good people of Ghana.
We congratulate all our Presidential candidates for the good work they have done. Recent reports show that at least with your little resources, their campaigns were well attended. It is our prayer and fervent hope that regardless of the outcome at congress, the winner will be prepared to accommodate everyone in the process for the battle ahead. You remember one of Osagyefo?s motto was ? We create and we share?
We the executives of International Convention People?s Party Forum will like to assure all the candidates that no mater who is given the nod, he will receive our unreserved support. May God bless you all. Good-luck. May God bless Ghana our motherland?
