Accra, Feb. 12, GNA - Members of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) throughout the country with the exception of the Ho branch have adopted a resolution to endorse all measures to get the ICU registered as an independent labour centre and make it even bigger and stronger.

The resolution, signed by all the nine regional secretaries called on the National Executive Council (NEC) and leadership of the ICU to use all civilised and legal means to battle the Trades Union Congress (TUC) against its activities to destroy the ICU.

It said the ICU must strive and to ensure that it succeeded in serving as a hope for the down-trodden Ghanaian worker. "The TUC has all along been harbouring hatred and envy against the ICU because of its numbers and strength and the able leadership it has been enjoying," the resolution stated.

It stated that the TUC had no moral or legal right to eject the ICU from the Trade Union Building because it was given to all organized labour Unions hence the name "Hall of Trades Union."

"The TUC has done nothing over the years to help Ghanaian workers but has contributed in making the situation of workers worse." Members of ICU from the nine regions saluted the national leadership and the executive members of the Union for remaining calm in the face of the provocative acts of the TUC leadership.
