IGP Disappointed In Dan Lartey

Tue, 13 Apr 2004 Source: --

The Inspector-General of Police, Nana Owusu Nsiah has expressed his utmost disgust at a statement made at the recently held press conference by opposition parties in which the parties accused the police service of allowing itself to be used by the government.

The IGP also expressed disappointment at Mr Dan Lartey, Leader of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) and chairman of opposition parties, for making that statement without checking his facts right.

Nana Owusu Nsiah stated that, Mr Lartey?s statement may be true to some extent, under previous governments, but not in this present dispensation. The IGP said, the Police Service is not loyal to any individual or group of persons. He said the duty of the Police is to serve the interest of the nation at all times.

He has therefore thrown a challenge to Mr Dan Lartey and members of the other opposition parties, to report to the police if they have information on any police personnel whose loyalty they may suspect to be inclined to an individual or any group.
