The decision by late President John Evans Atta Mills to support the idea muted by the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah-Quaye, to establish the Marine Police outfit continues to be vindicated.

The Marine Police was established to help the police chase out smugglers who may be using canoes for their operations and in times of disaster, help complement the operations of the Ghana Navy.

The latest example of the Marine Police’s usefulness was when the search was on for the bodies of Ghanaian musician, Castro and his friend, Janet.

The search by the Marine Police and the Ghana Air force, prove very useful.

Whiles the Navy were focused in securing the country’s security at high seas, the Marine Police were helping the fisher-folk to locate the bodies.

A little feature showed by U-TV news team in conjunction with the Marine Police team, buttress how useful but risky the job of the aforementioned unit of the police is.

The Informer wishes to commend the Mahama government and the Police administration led by Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, for their continuing support and enhancement of activities of the Marine Police Unit.
