The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, last week personally arrested a man suspected to be engaged in illicit business.

On one of his unannounced operations to find for himself the challenges in the Accra metropolis, the IGP is reported to have spotted four men on the Spintex Road at 5:30pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 offloading food items from a van designated for the Kotoka International Airport into an unregistered Toyota Camry.

Further narrating the incident to TV3, Airport District Police Commander, Superintendent Yaw Tettegah, said the IGP suspecting foul play personally moved in to arrest Musah Amadu, the driver of the Toyota Camry.

The other three – Daniel Acquaye, the driver of the van, Alex Osei and Benjamin Tsikpa – however, escaped by driving off. Police investigations reveal that the gang has been involved in crime for some time now.

Musah Amadu was arraigned at an Accra Circuit Court, which admitted him to a bail of GH¢2,000 and one surety to reappear on February 3, 2014.

The police are, meanwhile, on the search for the escaped three.
