In September 2023, a struggling young man from Bobikuma, near Swedru in the Central Region, named Alex Ofori, went viral on social media after sharing his dreams of becoming successful, just like the philanthropic businessman, Ibrahim Mahama.
The viral video, shared by blogger @iambigcedi, caught the attention of Ibrahim Mahama, who instructed his aide, Rafik Mahama, to reach out to the young man for him to offer him a mentoring opportunity.
Ofori also had the chance to meet his mentor, Ibrahim Mahama, at his office.
Providing an update on the young man's progress towards success, Rafik Mahama has shared that Alex Ofori is receiving mentorship in construction and mining.
He mentioned that Ofori, who started working in October of the previous year, is now part of a team of trainee engineers working on various projects across the country, under Ibrahim Mahama’s E&P firm.
"As part of the mentorship and practical training, Alex officially began working last October. He is under the direct supervision of Engineer John. Young Alex is part of our team of trainee engineers working on our various projects across the capital and other cities," Rafik Mahama wrote.
Ibrahim Mahama’s aide added that the update was being provided out of public interest, due to the discovery of Alex Ofori's aspirations on social media through blogger @iambigcedi in 2023.
