There is a dire consequence to pay if the National Democratic Congress makes a mistake of "telling lies to the United Nations," the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has warned.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has stated that it is "insane" for members of the NDC to threaten that they will be petitioning the UN to revoke President Akufo Addo’s appointment as the Co-Chair of the SDGs Advocates.

According to him, their antics would hit a snag since President Akufo-Addo as Co-Chair of the SDGs Advocates has done tremendously well in protecting Ghana's environment.

According to the NDC, President Akufo Addo’s corrupt government has become an active enabler and promoter of galamsey and the destruction of the environment in a way that affronts the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, the Ashanti Regional Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi described the intended move by the NDC as "absolute rubbish".

To counter their move, he also vowed to petition the manufacturers of Airbus to speak on their transactions with the government of former President Mahama to bring before all, the names of individuals who took "hefty bribes" to make the deal come through.

Ghana is one of five countries in which the European aviation giant, Airbus, paid or attempted to pay millions of dollars in bribes in exchange for contracts, leading a court in Britain to slap a fine of £3 billion on the company.

In court documents and hearings, Airbus admitted five counts of failing to prevent bribery, using a network of secret agents to pay large-scale backhanders to officials in foreign countries, including Ghana, to land high-value contracts.
