Ignore reports of NSS allowance freeze – Kpessa-Whyte

Reports circulating in the media that the Government of Ghana will not be paying National Service personnel their December 2016 and January 2017 allowances as part of International Monetary Fund (IMF) conditionalities are false, Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte, acting Director of the National Service Secretariat, has said.

On Friday, there were reports to the effect that personnel would have to endure two months of non-payment of allowances because the Bretton Woods institution had ordered the government not to pay their allowance.

However, Dr Kpessa-Whyte dispelled the rumour, describing it as a “desperate propaganda of some shameless opposition minds” against the government.

He further described those peddling the claim as “ignorant” who do not want to check the facts available.

He tweeted: “Not true... part of the desperate propaganda of some shameless opposition minds. All allowances will be paid and rightly so, and on time.”
