The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) says it did not sanction or approve the termination of contracts of some caterers under the programme.

Some caterers across the country had their appointment with the programme “unilaterally terminated” and new ones appointed while others were reallocated to different schools by some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.

But a statement from the GSFP dated September 6 said “we have not authorized or engaged in any arrangement with any assembly to change schools for our caterers for the 2019/2020 academic year”.

It thus directed all caterers under the programme who were affected “to disregard any information purporting to terminate their contract or reallocate new schools to them”.

The GSFP said all its caterers must continue to cook for the schools originally allocated them to serve per their contract until they are directed to cease by officials of the programme.

Meanwhile all MMDAs have been asked to at all material times consult with the GSFP and Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to secure the appropriate approval before embarking on arrangement.

That, it explained will not only engender healthy collaboration between the GSFP and the assemblies but it will also enhance the smooth implementation and sustainability of the programme.

“MMDAs who do not adhere to these directives and proceed to terminate caterers’ contract and assign schools to new caterers to serve do so at their own risk. GSFP would not pay for any unauthorized services rendered under any circumstances,” it warned.
