The Editor-In-Chief of the Crusading Guide newspaper Kweku Baako Junior has observed that the suspended National Chairman of the main opposition New Patriotic Party Paul Afoko has lost the moral right to lead the elephant family.

According to him, even if Afoko wins the court case against his suspension or the internal party mechanisms vindicates and reinstates him as chair, he will not have the psychological strength required to lead.

“In the most unlikely event that he wins the court case or the internal structures of the party decide to reinstate him, he has lost the moral and political authority to lead a mass party like the NPP,” Baako told Samson Lardy Anyenini on Newsfile on Joy FM Saturday.

He said Afoko must subject himself to the internal disciplinary measures of the party in order to be taken seriously as a leader. Baako believes although Mr Afoko may have succeeded as a businessman in private life, he may not possess the leadership skills required to lead a political party.

“Some of us have deliberately refused to do this kind of analysis for a long time but accusing the flagbearer in these matters is not fair. There are some people who may be very good businessmen and committed to the party but are immature and lack the strategic ability to organise a party like the NPP and that truth must be told,” Baako fumed.

The internal wrangling in the opposition party has hit the crescendo following the suspension of its national chairman by the National Executive Committee.

Scores of his supporters thronged the party’s headquarters demanding his reinstatement. His spokesperson has described the suspension as an illegality which must be reversed.
