The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, on Saturday paid a courtesy call on Paga Pio [Chief of Paga], Charles Awia Awamampaga in the Upper East Region.
The CGI visited the Paga Pio’s Palace upon his arrival at Paga to continue with his working tour of Command posts in the northern parts of the country.
Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi officially informed the Paga Pio of his presence in the community to witness at firsthand the welfare of Officers and their operational activities at the Paga border post. “We are here as tradition and customs demand of us to pay homage and seek your permission before going ahead with our mission”, he added.
The CGI indicated that his working tour commenced on Thursday, March 7, 2019 after the 62nd Independence anniversary at Tamale and that the border posts visited so far included Tatale, Saboba, Bunpkrugu, Wunjuga, Yendi Sector Command and the Northern Regional Immigration Headquarters.
He assured the Chief of Paga that with the support of government the Paga border post of the Ghana Immigration Service would receive a facelift to boost the image of his Chiefdom and the country at large and enhance security at the major entry point.
The CGI was accompanied by his deputy in-charge of Finance and Administration, Mrs. Judith Dzokoto-Lomoh, the Chief Staff Officer, Chief Superintendent Lawrence Agyei Agyapong, the Head of Public Affairs, Superintendent Michael Amoako-Atta, the acting Upper East Regional Immigration Commander, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Dedzo and the Commander for the Paga Border Post, Chief Superintendent Laryea Kwei.
In a remark, the Paga Pio thanked the CGI and his entourage for the visit and expressed the joy to have them. He commended the CGI for the decision to touch base with his Officers to enable him comprehend with the happenings at the border post.
He noted the existence of a healthy and cordial relationship between his Chiefdom and Officers of the Ghana Immigration Service.
The Paga Pio gave his blessings to the CGI and his entourage for their period of stay in the Region and wished them a successful working tour. He assured the CGI of his continuous support for the operational activities of Officers at the border post.
