The electoral commissioner, Charlotte Osei, has finally responded to the petition of impeachment filed against her by some unknown workers of the electoral commission.
In a press statement statement claimed to have been issued by her, the EC boss described all allegations leveled against her as a ploy to rid her of her position as the chairman of the commission.
Charlotte Osei has revealed that each and every allegation leveled in the 29 page petition is totally false and therefore she is ever ready to face the president should an invitation be made for her to answer to these claims and allegations.
“The political motive hunting would not serve the greater purpose. The 'motiveless malignity' behind this petition are self-seeking and faceless individuals with the sole motive of satisfying their purely personal vendetta against my person and protecting illegal financial interest,” she fumed.
Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent a strong signal of government's intention of removing the electoral commissioner, Charlotte Osei, anytime soon.
Addressing a group of media folks in reaction to the 6 months stay of government, minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu argued that the opposition party will stick to ensuring that the independence of the electoral commission is strictly respected.
