As from May 1st 1998, the importation of vehicles older than 10 years will be banned from the country. Subsequently, any vessel which lands a vehicle which is 10 years old or more at any of the country's ports will pay a surcharge per vehicle. This measure is part of proposals outlined in this year's budget statement presented in Parliament yesterday, by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Kwame Peprah. He said the government would abolish the over-aged penalty on vehicles.
