Improved health facilities would enhance health care delivery in Ellembelle -Moomin

Nkroful(W/R) July 02, GNA-Mr. Imam Abdul Moomin, group leader of an 11-member team of medical students from Tuoro College, New York, in the United States of America (USA), has observed that improved health facilities would enhance health care delivery in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

According to him, records on health care delivery through the mobile van far outweighed attendance at the various health centres in the district. Mr Moomin therefore recommended that the mobile way of attending to the sick should be managed well to the benefit of all. He made the observation after the launch of the Ellembelle mobile clinic as part of the team's 2-week stay in the district where affordable health care was delivered at the doorstep of the people in some communities. Mr Moomin commended the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah for the mobile clinic initiative.

The District Director of Health Services, Madam Elizabeth Corney, noted that the health needs of the people were enormous and expressed satisfaction that the vision of a mobile clinic had become a reality. She implored government to assist the mobile clinic initiative to make it more effective.

The DCE for Ellembelle, Mr Daniel K. Eshun, thanked the group for coming to assist the people of the area. He noted that government's adoption of the mobile way of extending health care to remote areas would depend on how workable the initiative succeeds in the district.

The District Health Directorate in conjunction with the Assembly presented a "Kente" muffler with a calendar embossed with the inscription, "Greetings from Ghana" to the group. 02 July 10
