Incompetent and lazy staffs have no place in Amenfi east assembly.

Wassa Akropong (W/R), Sept. 21 - GNA -Mr. Joseph B. Aidoo, Western Regional Minister said incompetent, lawless, lazy and drunken workers would not be tolerated at the newly created Amenfi East District. He said pilfering and other negative acts among staff and officers posted there would be severely dealt with.

Mr. Aidoo said these at an emergency meeting of the assembly to discuss and approve a supplementary budget of 5.6 billion cedis from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and two billion cedis from the Social Investment Fund (SIF) at Wassa Akropong over the weekend.

He said Amenfi East is not a haven for misfits, saboteurs adding, "the success or downfall of the infant district will depend on the staff".

"We intend to introduce motivational packages to reward hardworking and exemplary performances among the assembly staff as well as the decentralised departments," he stressed.

Mr. Aidoo, who is also the acting District Chief Executive (DCE) said a total of 565 million cedis would be devoted to community initiated projects while 1.13 billion would go into poverty alleviation. "Small scale farmers and operators would benefit mostly from this fund," he added.

Mr. Aidoo assured the staff that all efforts would be made to secure them suitable office and residential accommodation to enable them to perform their duties efficiently.

"We encourage you to exert your rich experience, professional competence in the work of the assembly to facilitate its development," he added.

Kasapreko Kwame Bassanyin III, President of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Council appealed to the personnel to sacrifice their time, resources and talents for the rapid development of the district.

"When you take decisions be prompt to implement them, do not fear to make mistakes but take a cue from the established assemblies and move forward." he advised.

Kasapreko Bassanyin urged them to avoid competition since it could lead to unnecessary duplication and waste of funds.

Mr. John Appiah-Amponsah, Presiding Member of the Amenfi East District Assenbly said the assembly must always exhibit foresight in its planning while focus should be on the needs of the various communities.
