Indiscipline retards progress in Muslim Communities - Sheikh Nuamah

Sunyani, June 1 GNA - Sheikh Ishaque Nuamah, Second Vice President of the Coalition of Muslim Organisation, has said indiscipline in Muslim communities was a great threat to the growth and development of Islam and advised Muslims to change their attitudes and unite. He urged Muslim students to be focused and to plan and work to achieve meaningful goals.

Sheikh Nuamah was speaking on: "The Importance of Western Education in Muslim Community" at a symposium organised by the Sunyani Polytechnic Branch of the Ghana Muslim Students Association at Sunyani at the weekend.

He noted that negligence on the part of some Muslim parents had led to immoral behaviours among some Muslim youth in the country. He stressed the need to expose Muslim parents and youth to the necessity of achieving quality education.

Sheikh Nuamah renewed his appeal for Muslims to unite and forge ahead for the growth and development of Islam as well as their various communities.

He challenged Muslims, particularly the youth, to become foot soldiers of Islam and to help defuse the wrong perception about the religion.

Mr George Nunekpeku, President of the Branch, said the Association aimed at fostering unity among Muslim students, promoting Islam for community growth and development as well as enhancing education in Muslim communities.

He advised the students to impart the knowledge they would acquire to bring about positive change in their communities.
