Infect NPP members with malaria - NDC Youth to "Gen. Mosquito"

Mon, 23 Feb 2004 Source: GNA

Wa, Feb. 23, GNA - It was all fun and laughter during the inauguration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Wa Campus, as the members persistently called on Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as "General Mosquito" to infect the entire membership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with Malaria so that they would not be able to cast their vote during Election 2004.

When Mr Nketia, Member of parliament for Wenchi West, got up to deliver his inaugural address at the school, the students persistently shouted: "General Mosquito infect President Kufuor and all NPP members with malaria so that we shall win hands down!"

It took the Chairman a long time to restore order as Mr Nketia's speech was intermittently disrupted with: "Give them malaria, knock out during the elections!"
When the dust finally settled Mr Nketia alleged that NPP was neck deep in corruption adding that even though Vice President Aliu Mahama had launched a campaign against indiscipline, Ministers of State and NPP functionaries continued to attend public functions late. He said the NDC had mended its broken fences and would come out with pragmatic policies that would sweep them back into power in the 2004 Elections.
Mr Ludwig Hlodze, Deputy National Youth Organiser of NDC, said they would resource the students in all aspects to ensure that they did their work smoothly to bring back NDC into party.
He appealed to all students interested in joining the electioneering campaign team to submit their names for processing.
