President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 27, 2020, addressed the nation on measures taken by government to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country.

As part of the measures, the President announced new restrictions to battle the spread of the coronavirus.

This directive, he said, will be in force on Monday 1:am and will remain in place for at least two weeks.

The president also ordered the closure of all educational institutions until further notice.

Cities to be affected are Accra, Tema in the Greater Accra region as well as Kumasi and Obuasi in the Ashanti region.

The president in a televised speech said the police and other relevant authorities will be given new powers to enforce the measures.
