Critically injured Ghanaian high life veteran Amakye Dede has been transferred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment after surviving a gruesome motor crash in the Eastern region.
The ‘Iron Boy’ hit singer escaped death by a whisker ahead of a performance on New Year, but his manager and popular journalist Isaac Yeboah lost his life.
Amakye Dede’s bodyguard, Prince Mensah, 43, who is also in a critical condition, is being transferred to the 37 Military Hospital.
According to Agoo FM’s Kofi Ansong Baffour, close friends and associates of Amakye Dede including Osei Kwame Despite of Peace FM facilitated his movement to Accra for thorough treatment.
Amakye Dede and his entourage were reportedly going for a show when a vehicle rammed into their parked vehicle.
The Operations Officer of the Kyebi Divisional Police Command, ASP Peter Okyere has confirmed the incident.
According to an eyewitness, the highlife great was changing in his car ahead of his performance when the motor accident occurred.
He said a cab driver overtook a bus and in an attempt to avoid a head on crash, the driver veered off into the vehicle of the musician.
The accident occurred close to Osino, after the popular Paradise Filling Station.
The artiste and his bodyguard sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Osiem Government Hospital for treatment.
Yeboah, who passed away, was the editor of the tabloid P&P.
