Institute Donates 5,000 fruit trees to farmers

Essienimpong (Ash), May 20, GNA - MORE, an agricultural training institute, in collaboration with Perpetual Prosperity Pumps Foundation, a non-governmental organization, have donated 5,000 fruit seedlings to 150 farmers at Essienimpong in the Ejisu-Juabeng Municipality. The farmers were also presented with 90 rabbit hutches with 90 rabbits, 30 poultry pens with 150 improved cockerels, feeding and drinking troughs, 3,000 mushroom bags as well as 30 bicycles. The donation followed a training workshop on modern agricultural practices undertaken by the farmers and sponsored by the two institutes last week.

Donating the items Mr. Samuel Owusu-Takyi, Executive Director of MORE, said the donation was to enable the farmers become self-reliant in their work and also equip them with the requisite resources. Nana Kwaku Bio, Chief of Essienimpong, thanked the donors for the gesture and stressed the need for Ghanaians to take agriculture seriously.
