Interesting traditions of Ghana's 16 regions

The event was nothing short of creativity, innovation and rich display of the Ghanaian culture. One after the other, they came through, all 16 regions.

Each very well represented with locals, showcasing creatively, the most unique essentials of their region at the 63rd Independence celebrations.

From the various kinds of Kentes to the smocks (Batakari’s), the dresses made from hides and the African Print wears, they marched through the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, after representatives of government’s policies and initiatives had completed their march past.

The Ashanti Region came with their ‘Adowa’ dancers and ‘Abrafour’(executioners), dancing and showing off their local weapons.

The Ahafo Region was represented by its locals wearing colourful kente dresses, followed by Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions who were represented by their smocks, food crops including tubers and other cultural artefacts.

The Central and Western regions were not left out, they came through with their masquerade clothes and stilt walkers (scabodo’s)

The Bono and Oti regions weren’t left out, with their exceptional dancers, they exhibited their culture.
