Accra, Aug. 9, GNA - Charles Afful, an Interior Designer, on Monday appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra charged with stealing; forging the signature of his employer and attempting to withdraw 37.6 million cedis from his bank account.

Afful pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the Court presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Ankomah. The Court admitted him to a bail of 50 million cedis with one surety to be justified. He would re-appear on September 6.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zakariah Dudimah said Afful was dismissed from Afro Crown Company Limited on August 3, 2004 but he managed to collect two cheque leaflets and issued one of them with a face value of 37.6 million cedis to purchase computers at Osu in Accra.

He said when the Computer Company asked him to go and cash the cheque, he was arrested at the bank as it was detected that the signature on the cheque was forged. DSP Dudimah said Afful admitted the offence during interrogation.
