Accra, Jan. 27, GNA- Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, on Friday hailed the decision of the International Air cadet Association to host a conference in Ghana in July, this year, saying it would help market the country abroad.
He said the meeting would also promote efforts to make Ghana the hob of cadet corps in Africa.
Vice President Mahama made this known during a meeting with Wing Commander Mike Eveleigh, Secretary-General of the Association at the Osu Castle.
He lauded the initiative of the Association to select Ghanaian cadets for an exchange programme abroad, saying it would expose the participants to new ways of doing things. Vice President Mahama said the introduction of cadet corps to Ghana in the 1950's initially in the Northern and Western regions helped to instil discipline in the youth He called on the Association to help improve on logistics to train members of the cadet corps. Wing Commander Eveleigh said t he two weeks conference would attract 100 participants from 14 countries globally. He said it would offer training in good practices, discipline and self respect.
