Mr. Abraham Ossei Aidooh, Deputy Majority Leader on Friday said that honouring of invitations to seminars, workshops and other functions without recourse to the Leadership by committees of Parliament was hampering the work of the House and should be discontinued.
He also noted that the House continues to record low attendance despite several reminders to members.
The Deputy Majority therefore, advised all chairpersons of committees to always notify the Leadership of their programmes and proceed to seekapproval from the Speaker before honouring such invitations.
Mr Aidooh made the observation when he presented the Business Statement for the sixth week ending November 22, 2002.
He said during the week, the Ministers of Health, Communications and Technology, Education, Foreign Affairs, Food and Agriculture and Tourism would appear before the House to answer 22 questions.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Women and Children's Affairs and Trade and Industry are also expected to make statements on various issues concerning their respective ministries.
Mr Aidoo said Bills and Legislative Instruments may be introduced while Reports from committees on the various Loan Agreements and legislative Instruments are expected during the week.
The Committee of the Whole has been scheduled to meet officials of the Electral Commission during the week while there would be laying of Papers and Motions on various Reports as well as Committee Sittings.
