Irate Hearts fans hold board member hostage after Chelsea defeat

There are reports Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akanbi was held hostage by irate fans after the team's 1-0 defeat at Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

Sportsnetghana.com reports that Akanbi was prevented from leaving stadium after the final whistle.

The incensed Hearts of Oak fans wanted to beat him up because of the team's downward spiral.

It took the intervention of the police at the Golden City Park to prevent a nasty scene.

Akanbi has been in the bad books of the Hearts fans in the Brong Ahafo Region after the Chapters Committee wrote a letter asking him to stay away from their match against Aduana Stars last month.
